Learn to Dance in the Snow - Embracing the Season’s Shift
There’s nothing more hard-hitting than the first real cold morning in Autumn. Yesterday it was all Atom’s iced matcha lattes in a butter yellow fits, today it’s digging out coats from the back of my closet and living in heat-tech fleeces like it’s second nature. The air shifts, the light feels dimmer somehow, and suddenly—boom—it’s winter.
This is usually when I start my ‘ I need to get out of the UK’ rants. It’s tempting to miss the long summer evenings but, if I am being honest, the colder months have their own kind of charm. Slow mornings, watching Gilmore Girls with a hot drink, getting ready for work vibes. Layering outfits that feel like little hugs, and the excuse to romanticise every frosty breath. Winter isn’t just something to get through—it’s an invitation to slow down, reset, and re-prioritise.

Romanticise, Re-vamp & Redefine
Summer had us running — dinners outside, weekends away, plans stacked on top of each other. Now the season shifts, and the pace softens. Early evenings turn into slower meals, cosy nights in, and long chats over hot drinks. It’s not about doing less, it’s about enjoying differently.
Dress for Autumn
Layers aren’t a burden, they’re an art form. You don’t have to leap into heavy coats just yet, but now is the time to think layers. Lightweight knits, longline blouses, thicker abayas, and scarves you can wrap and unwrap as the day changes. These transitional pieces allow you to mirror the season, shifting gradually, gracefully, without resistance.
Different Season, Different Diet
As the temperature drops, our bodies ask for a different kind of nourishment. Give way to heartier, grounding foods: root vegetables, warming soups, and spices that comfort from the inside out. Especially if you’re an East African girly like me, anaemia is about to go crazy with the low Vitamin D combo. It is also the ideal time to be mindful of supplements or vitamins to sustain energy and strengthen immunity through the darker months. To fuel yourself in this way is not only to stay healthy but to align your body with the natural rhythm of the season.

Unleash your Winter Arc Villain Era
THERE ARE LESS THAN 100 DAYS LEFT OF THE YEAR. Sorry for the shouting queen but I think this is a ‘nice’ reminder of those resolutions we all made back in January.
Lately, there’s been a shift in how we view the colder months. Instead of resisting them, many are leaning into the trend of the “winter arc” or creating their own “personal curriculum”.
It’s about using the peace and quiet of this season to work on yourself, not through hustle or burnout, but through intention. Whether it’s learning a new skill, reconnecting with faith, committing to journaling, or simply slowing down enough to really listen to yourself, the darker months provide the perfect backdrop for inner growth.
Think of it as turning inward not in isolation, but in reflection. Just as the earth rests and restores, so can we.
You ARE the main character
Romanticise the in-between. Instead of missing summer’s brightness, see this moment as its own story — a season of prep and quiet beauty. Autumn doesn’t just slow us down, it asks us to notice: softer evenings, the comfort of layering, the calm that steadies us for what’s ahead. Lean into these little rituals now, and winter won’t feel like something to brace against, but something to welcome — a chance to find joy in the cosy, the quiet, and everything it promises.
